Frequently Asked Questions
What is augmented reality (AR)?
Augmented reality is the real-time presentation of digital experiences on top of a view of the real world. Pokemon Go and Snapchat are both examples of apps that use augmented reality.
How does the technology work?
SpellBound uses the screen of a mobile device to add 3D, digital experiences to the real world. SpellBound uses our tools (cards, books, wall decals) as a way to trigger the 3D experiences.
What devices does it work on?
Tablets, such as iPads, and smartphones (both Android and iOS) that have rear-facing cameras and recent operating systems:
iOS devices, iOS 7.1.2 forward:
iPhone: 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus
iPad: Air 2, mini 3, Air, mini 2, Pro
Android OS 4.1 (Jellybean) - current
How much time does it take to implement?
Implementation is as easy as downloading an app. The app is simple, and training your CLS’s will take no more than 20-30 minutes in total. Shipping the cards to you will take the longest amount of time!
How easy or hard is it for a CLS to use SpellBound?
You do not need to have any specialized knowledge to use SpellBound. Because it works with the phone camera, using SpellBound is comparable to taking a photo. Point the phone at the cards, make sure lighting is sufficient, and see a 3D experience appear. SpellBound is designed to allow 4-year-olds to easily use the app on their own.
